<hr>Mason Stains &#174; by Mason Color Works

A mason stain is essentially an oxide or series of oxides and opacifiers which have been blended together, calcined, then ground to a 200 mesh or so powder. Stains may be mixed to achieve additional colors. It can also be mixed with a variety of mediums to turn them into china paints, enamels, underglazes, decals, etc. etc. All the ones that we carry have a max temp of 2300F.

The color chips, shown below, are those provided by the manufacturer. We have found that the Sky Blue can provide a much brighter tint, by mixing with an opacifier. The yellows can also be quite different, less dingy, than the chip represents. We have actual fired chips in the store that may warrant a visit, if there's a very specific hue that you're after.
